A July 2005 trip to Orlando by MrsAEF

My husband and I decided to take our honeymoon in Disney World. We had such a magical time there; we felt like big kids. It was the perfect place to unwind after a stressful year of planning a wedding. We totally recommend it!

The rides, of course! Nothing can compare to the rides at Disney World. My personal favorite were Aerosmith, Soarin’, and the Hollywood Tower of Terror. Sure, the ride were long, but standing in the line is worth every minute of the ride. They were awesome! Also, the food was delish! Every restaurant had something different to offer. The service was great, the food was exquisite, and the overall atmosphere was amazing. I could not have had a better honeymoon.

Quick Tips:

I suggest using the Fast Pass as much as possible; it literally cuts your time in half. I also recommend wearing comfortable shoes; trust me, you are going to be walking A LOT. I made the mistake of taking a handbag with me, with all the walking you're going to be doing, the last thing you want to do is lug a bag around.

Best Way To Get Around:

The Disney shuttle buses! They took my husband and I from our hotel to the park and vice versa. It was so wonderful. We did not have to worry about parking, getting lost, etc. The buses are roomy, air-conditioned, and clean. There were a few times when we had to stand, but the poles help you keep your balance while the bus is moving.

Port Orleans Riverside Resort Grounds
The accommodations at the Port Orleans Riverside were wonderful. The rooms were beautifully themed and comfortable. Our resort grounds were just romantic and perfect for the couple on their honeymoon. The staff were so nice and caring; we were so pleased with their service. The restaurant located in the resort was delicious, and the snack bar and mini-mart were so convenient. I have no complaints at all.

50's Theme in the Resturant
The '50s Prime Time Cafe was one of my favorite restaurants in the park. It was such a fun experience! Sure, the waiters treat you like a 5-year-old, but it was a good laugh. The restaurant is beautifully themed in '50s attire, and even your table has a '50s theme! They took care of the smallest detail, and they make you feel like you just stepped into a time machine. The food--so good! I wish I could eat there everyday. I had the pot roast with mashed potatoes, and my husband had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. It was fantastically delicious! Then we ordered a huge sundae for dessert. It's topped with many different types of sweets, and it was heavenly. The service was great, and the overall experience was wonderful.

Ghirardelli
Ghirardelli's Soda Fountain is a great place to go when you want to get out of the Orlando heat and to satisfy a sweet tooth. They have a cute little chocolate shop right next door to the ice-cream parlor, making it very convenient to get your chocolate and ice-cream fix.

My hubby and I got the banana split and while we weren't happy with the price (almost $7!), we were definitely happy with the taste...it was heavenly!

Rainforest Cafe Animal KingdomBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Rainforest Cafe"

My husband and I went to the Rainforest Cafe in the Animal Kingdom for breakfast. Even though there's a Rainforest Cafe in the city that I live in, I have never been before but always wanted to. The inside decor immediately gives you the feeling that you're in the jungle. From the wild animal sounds to the robotic animals, everything is decorated in detail.

The service was a bit disappointing but we cut our waitress some slack because she was semi-new and did not have enough experience yet.

We both ended up ordering good ol' steak and eggs and it was really good—not delicious, but good. Out of a rating of 1 to10, I'd give the entire experience a 7.

Wonderful! I have never had so much fun in my life! The Magic Kingdom was one of my favorite parks; there were so many souvenir shops, restaurants, and of course, rides. The hardest part was trying to get a picture with a character, but that didn't bother me much, seeing as I wasn't there to see a man in a stuffed suit! If you're 5 or 50, I recommend this place.

The Animal Kingdom
Wonderful. The Animal Kingdom is much more than a big zoo; it's so much fun and educational as well. I learned something new at every place we went to. I just loved the different type of cultures that they presented at this park.

Fourth of JulyBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

My husband and I spent the 4th of July in Orlando, Florida. We heard that we couldn't miss the fireworks show in Magic Kingdom, so we decided to see what all the fuss was about. It was exactly what the name says it is--magical. The fireworks were amazing and beautiful. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Tinkerbell fly over Cinderella's Castle. We got it all on video, and I watch it at least once a month!
