Restaurant | "Cabo Bar & Grill"

A group of us tend to go to Cabo's after we go to the hockey game, which is either a Friday or Saturday night. Cabo's has great food. They serve excellent wings, pizza, wraps, sandwiches, and great appetizers, such as nachos and shrimp cocktail. Everything is reasonably priced, with wraps at about $6, and that includes a large wrap and chips and salsa.

I definitely recommend that you have a lot of time to spare and lots of patience. The last few times we have went it has taken forever for a waiter/waitress to even come up and take our drink orders. Then waiting on food takes forever! If you have the patience for that, go there.

Good food, horrible service.

Coffee SmithsBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

Coffee Smiths is a great place to take your favorite book, put on your comfy clothes, buy some coffee or your favorite choice of drink, and curl up in the big cushy chairs and read by the fireplace.

This time of year, they have special fall drinks. I have so far enjoyed the "Mama's Apple Pie," which is apple cider with some other ingredients mixed in. It's fabulous. The "Caramel Apple Cider" is great, too. The hot warm apple taste of cider with a hint of caramel makes you think you are eating a caramel candy-covered apple. Absolutely fabulous!

The atmosphere is generally quiet. With the fireplace going, it's a great place to kick back and get lost in your favorite book. On Friday nights from 7 to 9pm, Coffee Smiths usually has a local artist come in and sing some songs, which usually brings a bit larger crowd. So if you are in the mood for some jazz or, as was played this past Friday night, Christian blues, it's a good place to go. If you want a quieter atmosphere, try coming earlier or later. They are open until 11pm, so you can always arrive at 9 and stay until 11pm.

Coffee Smiths also offers an array of food. Soup, sandwiches, and dessert items are available to enjoy with your coffee. The garden vegetable soup is highly recommended by me; I really enjoyed this great classic soup.

They also have cards that they can give you if you plan on coming back often and become a frequent guest. You collect points and are eligible for free drinks and/or food. Service is fantastic, as are very friendly and will bring your coffee out to you. The shop is very nicely decorated in typical coffeehouse fashion.

All in all, I really enjoy the atmosphere and will definitely come back again.

Cedar Rapids Ice ArenaBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Ice Arena"

Tonight Cedar Rapids will take on Sioux City at the Ice Arena. The Roughriders against the Musketeers! If you have never been to a hockey game before, you are missing out! It is definitely worth it to come and check it out. It's not that expensive either, with tickets ranging from $9 to $17, so bring the whole family! I try to go to a lot of games because I enjoy it so much.

Seating is very nice, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Although I would say that you have to sit in the front row at least once to experience the hockey teams smashing each other up against the Plexiglas or the hockey puck coming right at you! Oh, the excitement!

In between periods they have different activities; once a dance team came out and performed. Last time I was there we watched the 3- and 4-year-olds come out and play. They were so cute!

So, all in all, it was a good time for everyone!
