This charming hotel will bring you back in time to the 7th century. Although the lobby area is small, it is warm and inviting. I was pleasantly surprised while walking to our room to find a very European library/bar room. The walls were of a rich, dark wood accented with mouldings. It was quiet, with the faint sound of classical music in the background. I loved this room, as it made me really feel like I was somewhere very special. I could only imagine the people over time who sat in this room.

Our room was large and decorated beautifully, overlooking the canal and across the canal to more beautiful old architecture. The restaurant is not only a feast to the taste buds but the eyes as well! Walking throughout hotel was like an adventure, as I stumbled across narrow staircases, statues, and a relaxing little spa area. I felt like a little kid in a time-travel movie when I peeked into a room while it was being cleaned for the next guest's arrival. The fireplace was stone and had small medieval statues on it, and it looked like a room that would be in an old castle.

While my mother, brother, and I were walking up one of the steep staircases, our mouths dropped to find this large beautiful old meeting room of the Guild of Tailors, dating from 1779. You wouldn't think that this room would exist up these little stairs.

The breakfast room was quaint and served a lovely breakfast. I loved the clove-shaped sugar cubes in the sugar dish. It is a very romantic place to stay, with restaurants and shops within, on a cobblestone path, walking distance, past the beautiful canals and architecture. Bruges took my breath away. I could see a windmill in Holland from our bedroom window. What a delightful place!
