Weekend Trip to Gettysburg

A September 2005 trip to Gettysburg by steelersgal78

We did a candlelight ghost tour, a 2-hour audio tape of the battlefield, and camped at Round Top Campground. We also ate at General Pickett's Buffet.

Resort Experience:

After a last-minute decision to go to Gettysburg over the Labor Day weekend, we were able to book 3 nights at the Round Top Campground. The price was reasonable. We camped in a tent. We were near the highway but living in the city, and you kind of get used to all of the noise from the highways. The swimming pool was heated and wonderful. The campground staff was excellent. The bathrooms and shower houses were very clean. The staff kept on top of everything there. We were only about 5 minutes from the battlefield.

Restaurant | "General Pickett's All-U-Can-Eat Buffet"

This place was wonderful. They had a wide variety of different foods to eat, like seafood, chicken, beef, and pork. There were lots of side dishes to pick from also. The dessert table was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I am a huge ghost believer, and Gettysburg was the place where I knew I'd find ghosts. After doing much research, I discovered that most of the tours in Gettysburg do not take you to the Triangular Field. This field has the most ghost activity. Paranormal investigators have visited this field and have had many experiences.

We headed out there on Saturday night. There were probably about 15 other people in the fields with us that night. Although I didn't see anything at that time, I felt chills and the feeling of being watched and at times found it hard to catch my breath the farther into the field we went. After coming home and watching my videotape from the field, there were so many orbs, ghostly figures, etc., in it. One shot I took aiming into the woods had the figure of a soldier standing with his gun aimed towards me. Really amazing.

I highly recommend visiting the Triangular Field after dark. It is located behind Devils Den. You can stay in the battlefields until 10 at night. Take advantage of it!
