It gave off a brilliant first impression, but there were some maintenance problems on a second view. There was a spacious entrance and reasonable rooms, half with a sea view and half with a city one. There was a choice of three restaurants. We liked both the Chinese one and cafe. But looking more deeply, some components really start to look rundown. The pool (nicely located in garden) had lots of damaged paint, the bathrooms were looking more '70s than what is needed for a five-star, etc. This was a pity, but it's still nice if one can get a bargain price.

This is one of the two best hotels in town (next to Mahaweli Reach). Overlooking the Mahaweli River and dam nearby, the other side has the beautiful Knuckles Range. The entryway is very spacious. The room building block is beautiful but a bit long, through nicely landscaped. Rooms were not extremely large but very luxurious, with oversized bathroom. There was a perfect restaurant overlooking the garden and pool with a huge buffet and live music. The pool itself was also huge and nice.

(There is a back entrance completely from a land road from Bentota, though...) So, of all the Bentota beach hotels, this one is by FAR the quietest, because Galle Road is not 50m but 500m from your room! And there are splendid views from the hotel quay and restaurant, especially at night, not only seaside, but especially lagoon-side. Hotel itself is above average for 2-star, but of course it's not a four-star. The main pool is quite good (but there is no kiddie pool; there’s only a bit isolated second pool). The restaurant buffet...Read More
