Fun in the Sun

An October 2004 trip to Nuevo Vallarta by patriciadenise

The resort was wonderful and a great place for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.

Overview

You can just relax at the pool here or take a cab into the town. It's not a long ride and is accessible if you have a rental. The mariachi bands in town at night are great to see.

Quick Tips:

The food at the resort is so good, you won't need to leave. The prices are fair also. We come from New York, so we are use to paying higher prices, but still I don't think they are bad.

Best Way To Get Around:

Either use a rental or cabs. In the long run, the rental will be cheaper if you plan on going into town several times.

Best Things Nearby:
Town for shopping, eating, or just having a drink and looking at the beach

Best Things About the Resort:
Wine bar and great restaurants

Resort Experience:
It is very clean and the restaurants are excellent. The rooms do have a musty, moldy smell, but that's the only negative thing we can say. The water was rough on the beach, but the pools are magnificent.

They had Mexican food or seafood. Both are delicious. Prices are reasonable and you get a beautiful overview of the whole resort. The staff is very attentive. This is a must-try during your stay at the Mayan Palace.

Story/Tip

The wine bar is excellent. You get your own wine steward, pick out your own tastings, and can go to the walk in humidor to pick out a cigar--just great. For the ladies they even give you a silk scarf to wear in case you're cold.
