Quote: My wife and I had a short stopover on the trip from Adelaide to Darwin on the Ghan. We visited again and stayed at Knott's Crossing Resort.
We stayed in a cabin furnished with one queen-size bed and a double bunk. The cabins had a full kitchen and a large bathroom. It also had one of the noisiest air-conditioning units we have ever heard. (Leaving the windows open for fresh air was not an option. It was too warm, and then you had to listen to all the other air-conditioners!)

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large, with very good water pressure in the shower. I would not recommend one of these rooms with kids. It was very cosy and had no privacy, but for two people staying for one night it was more than adequate. The pool, though small, was clean and at a good temperature for swimming.

The boat tour ($60 per person when booked through Great Southern Railways) takes in the two bottom gorges, and it is necessary to change boats, as there is rocky section between the gorges that cannot be navigated in a boat (or a canoe). This section involves a short walk over fairly well-made and -maintained paths. The second gorge has more impressive cliffs...Read More
