A September 2005 trip
to Marco Island by dwardynski
Quote: My husband and I had planned a getaway week to enjoy and relax and be away by ourselves for a change without the kids. We were really looking forward to some time to ourselves.
Hotel | "Sunrise Bay Resort & Club"
Best Things Nearby:The best things near by were the resturants and the beach, which was about 1 mile away and you had to use the public beach.Best Things About the Resort:The only thing good about this resort was the view from the balcony and the sunrise in the morning and it is very quiet.Resort Experience:We were very disappointed in the resort itself. The picture in the RCI book made it look very nice and quaint; however that was the backside of the building. Driving up to the front of the resort was very disappointing; and the rooms need to be updated. Not at all what we were expecting. I actually had no hot water twice so that I could only take cold showers. The office closes nightly at 5:30. There is a nice boat dock in the back for fishing; and the resort has a plontoon boat that you can rent, which looks like it is on its last leg.
There is also a barbercue area with two gas grills; which need to be cleaned desperately and the picnic tables need to be painted or replaced. In the elevator, from the time we arrived to the time we left there was a pepsi can and pizza crust in the ceiling. There was absolutely no maintenance going on at this place at all. The resort had no activities for the guests. There were bikes and a so called game room, it would have been better if they turned it into an excerise room. We were really disappointed with this resort and would not recommend it. If I were to return to the Island again I would definitely find a different resort.
