Quito is a wonderfull colonial city. It remind me a lot of Lima, Peru....they share a lot of common history and they were populated by the same ethnic group with a very similar language. Old Quito is a colonial delight, with beautiful churches, a must-see museum of national history art in the main park close to old Quito. The city is a great getaway for nearby attractions as well. Better to be in Quito than in polluted new Guayaquil. New Quito has things to offer if you are into shopping, restaurants and bars. This Hotel is a very basic hotel almost like a Hostal but it''s worth stayingin , is centrally located and very cheap. I met a lot of locals and South American travelers that were passing by-- especially nice at night to talk to people when you are travelling alone.
