Exploring a volcanic island with its unusual sites is never to be forgotten. It was a quiet paradise with delightful people. It is unspoiled, with plenty of activity for the adventurous and plenty to do for the not-so-adventurous. There was good food, excellent weather, and the delights of Polynesia.
Quick Tips:
Plan ahead. Arrange trips, as they are inexpensive. Do not rely on the resort, which does not give advice and appears unaware of many of the available activities. Fine dining is available, but beware: do not leave it till late.
Most activities on island cease around 9pm. You are up with the lark, however, as activities and trips depart around 7:30 and 8am. Kakua Ranch for an active dinner and an evening of activity is a wonderful experience. The helicopter trip via Blue Hawaii to see the active volcanoes is a must!! A dinner sunset cruise is inexpensive and a wonderful experience!
Contrary to information received, the island was not found to be expensive. Dining costs compared favourably with the US mainland. Organised trips were readily affordable and well organized, and allowed plenty of time to allow the full enjoyment of the locality to be appreciated.
Best Way To Get Around:
A hire car is desirable and allows the island to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
