Fort Lauderdale after Hurricane Katrina

An October 2005 trip to Fort Lauderdale by raeuven

We escaped New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and went to Fort Lauderdale. We stayed two weeks at Ocean Palms/Sea Gardens in Pompano Beach and Costa Del Sol in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Both great places.

Best Things About the Resort:
Right on the beach, very nice rooms, location

Resort Experience:

We stayed at this resort after staying at the Ocean Palms/Sea Gardens in Pompano Beach. Both are Gold Crown, and both deserve that rating for different reasons. I liked this resort better as far as location and being right on the beach and close to Ft. Lauderdale and shopping right down the street. The Ocean Palms/Sea Gardens, however, had so many activities, and the kids loved it a lot more. Costa Del Sol was much quieter and more peaceful. Both were great. Our unit was first right by the pool with ocean view. The bedroom was huge. Cleaning service every day was a plus. Clean towels, beds made, and unit vacuumed. Very nice.
