Hotel Das Cataratas
In Buenos Aires it was my dream to go to the Argentine tango bars and dance tango in Argentina! Also, Argentina has the greatest steaks in the world. IguazuFalls, Brazil was the most beautiful and spectacular falls I have ever scene in my life! You can walk right in front of the layers of cascading falls. And, definitely the only hotel to stay at is the one that is right there, the HotelDasCataratas on the Brazilian side. And contrary to what anyone says there is a room that has a view of the falls.

The day trip from Bariloche, Argentina to Puerto Montt,Chile crossing the Andes in the Chilean Lake District was spectacular as well! In Bariloche we stayed at this incredible resort called the Llao llao (www.llaollao.com) The Andes crossing was so beautiful and I got some great photos of the rising mountian peaks and of the emerald green lakes. It was a long day but fully worth it.

In Chile they have wonderful salmon. Salmon is their main export and it is delicious. Also, a great regional specialty to try is "Machas" razor clams baked with parmeson cheese. Santiago, Chile seems to be rising in ecomonic greatness.

Quick Tips:

Lonely planets guide book and various web resources allowed me to plan the whole trip myself and with no "travel gliches."

Also, Colonia, Uruguay is not worth returning to.

Best Way To Get Around:

Taxis are the best way to get around in South America. But walking is also nice if you are up to it.

Amazing! Crossing the Andes is so beautiful and is not as high in elevation as I had originally thought so mountain sickness is not a problem. A long day but definitely worth it. Bus to boat and bus to boat and then finally you arrive at your destination of choice.
