A travel journal to Duck by sacarbs

After living in Duck, North Carolina, for 6 months, I have learned why the Outer Banks (OBX) is such a popular destination for many.

Overview

One, when visiting Duck, must have a coffee at Duck Cottage, a hilarious coffee shop/bookstore located right along the sound in a renovated fishing house. Adorable!!!

For eating, Blue Point Bar & Grille is a casual bistro also along the sound with an eclectic menu and amazingly strong mojitos!!!

For truly amazing food up there with NYC restaurants, The Left Bank (at the Sanderling Resort) is the place to enjoy a romantic fine-dining experience.

Quick Tips:

There are several places in the village of Duck to rent bikes, scooters, kayaks, and the like. It is also minutes to the beach, but make sure you bring your umbrella and sandals for the sand. In summertime, it is very HOT!!!

Best Way To Get Around:

Traveling to the OBX by car is quite easy, as it is only a short drive south from the DC/Baltimore area. In Duck, parking your car and walking is the best way for you to see the village and enjoy all that it has to offer. Renting a bike is also a must!!!

Best Things Nearby:
The village of Duck, just 4 miles south of the resort, offers great dining, shopping, and tourist attractions for the entire family.

Best Things About the Resort:
The spa!

Resort Experience:
The Sanderling Spa is by far the best of what the resort has to offer (except for The Left Bank restaurant, where the food is to die for). It’s a beautiful sanctuary that offers an array of services, ranging from nail and facial treatments to full-body massages. Yoga and Pilates classes are available 5 days a week. Most importantly, this spa is open to the general public, not just resort guests.
