An August 2005 trip

The food was fairly good and the all-inclusive a good value, but the service overall was rather poor. Activities and amenities included in the all-inclusive option were not available or not provided - when we inquired about them, we were told to "come back tomorrow".
The beach was unappealing and unkempt, looked much nicer from above. The resort is built hillside and it was a good exercise to walk up and down - they provide shuttle service around the property, but that's a waste of time.
The scenic however was fantastic. There were 2 pools, one was an activity pool and a more quiet pool in front of the main bar with great view of the bay. Because it was rainy season(it only rained once during our week stay), the pools and the resort were not crowded.
There is not much to do than lay back and relax. A rental car is recommended to get around. Everything is far away and be aware of the roads, which are terrible.
Overall the resort is not at all up to Gold Crown standard expectations and I don't see how they got it. The quality would be more adequate to describe a 3-star resort.
