August Getaway Weekend to Key West

As always, Key West did not disappoint. Key West seems to be changing by the month. What use to be there is making way for the new. If you want to see Key West as the colorful, artsy, eclectic mix that is presently is you need to go now. Key West is moving towards the HIGH-INCOME vistor. All the things that make Key West, well Key West is disappearing

Best Way To Get Around:

A car is nice to have if you want to venture outside of Key West. But around town, it is not really needed. Take a day and rent a scooter. It's a blast and a good way to see the island.

Irish Kevin's brings in a mixed age group. All come here for one purpose, and that is to have a good time. This place is dueling piano's gone guitar. It's a fun place. It's a loud place. And it always has a crowd. We were there in mid-August. On my previous trips, this is a place that I usually do not go. But in mid-August, it was the best place to be. I definitely would go back.

I have been to Key West at least two times per year for the past seven, and I have never heard of this place. To find good dance music, it was either Rick's, rock and hip-hop, or Bourbon Street Pub, techno, or era music.

The Blue Room, formally the Wax Room, is the well-kept secret of Key West Dance Nightlife. While it opens at 9pm, you will not find anyone there until later. After 12am, the place rocks. It is a total techno bar. Awesome sound system for Key West, and great bartenders. The girls are hot, and for the girls, there are also hot guys. Had an awesome time until 4am. After that, who know where the party is.

Yes, Bourbon Street is a gay bar, but hey, you're in Key West. This is one of the few bars that has good dance music. While it's a gay bar, other persuasions are made to feel welcome. If you don't mind the go-go dancers, and I am sure your girlfriend won't, it's a good time. The back bar is a little quieter, and if you want to go for a swim, there is a great pool next to the bar.
