Short trips to Branson, Missouri

Overview

Quote:
I live about 4½ hours from Branson and have visited the town numerous times. There are activities for all ages. They have many good shows to see; plus, there is Silver Dollar City, Celebration City, White Water, and Table Rock Lake. They also have 2 large outlet malls and the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield that is only about a 40 minute drive. I have visited in the summer and winter and enjoy both seasons. During my summer trips I have met friends and spent a day on Table Rock Lake which is just a few miles from Branson. It is a large lake with some beautiful views. Also I have gone to Silver Dollar City. The amusement park not only has lots of rides but also crafts and shows to watch whi...Read More

Hotel | "Horizons by Marriott Vacation Club"

During my last trip to Branson I stayed at the Horizons by Marriott Vacation Club. This was a great condo with everything we needed and in a great location. This condo is on a back road that has less traffic just off of highway 76 in the main part of town. There are lots of shows and restaurants really close and also the winery would actually be walking distance. The club house area that has the front desk is a beautiful inviting building. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful when arriving. I have asked for an early check in in advance and our room was ready when we arrived about 11:30am. At the time of check-in, I asked for a high chair which was delivered to our room later...Read More

I looked at hotels on several Internet sites, looked at different pictures, and finally decided on the Clarion Hotel at the Palace. It looked really nice, and I booked our rooms there. When we arrived, the building was in a good location and looked great from the front. The lobby was really neat and nice looking. When we checked in, they told use to drive around behind that building to our room. Well, I was very disappointed. The room we were given was in the back and in a separate building that was very rundown. The room entrances were on the outside, and I really would rather have interior rooms. The room was large and clean, with a refrigerator, but really old. We complained to management...Read More

This is a nice, clean hotel off the main road, but still close to all the action. The lobby is very clean and inviting. All the rooms are interior rooms.

Their rooms are suites with a separate living area and bedroom. They also have kitchenettes with a sink, refrigerator, microwave, and table. The bedroom also has a full bathroom attached.

They have an indoor pool and hot tub, but not an outdoor one. This is something I don’t like about staying there during the summer, but it is nice for the wintertime. You can go from your room to the pool without going outdoors.

The hotel also offers a free continental breakfast every morning.

Landry's Seafood House

Restaurant | "Landrys Seafood House "

I have eaten at Landry’s in Branson several times and do plan on eating there again in the future. It is centrally located on Highway 76, close to many of the hotels, condos, and shows. The drawback to this is that it is usually really crowded and you usually have to wait on a table, even when you arrive really early. We went around 5pm last year and still had a 30- minute wait. Also, I tried to eat there before a show one time and the wait was an hour, so we would have had enough time to wait, eat, and still make the show, so plan on a long wait if you have a schedule. The service and food are both really good. They bring out a large salad bowl for everyone to fill their own plates from an...Read More

Lonestar Steakhouse

Restaurant

Quote:
I ate at the Lonestar on my last trip to Branson. The location was really close to our condo and easy to get to. It is located on Green Mountain Drive, which is one of the traffic relief roads close to the main road and most of the hotels, condos and shows. We did not have to wait for a table when we arrived. We were quickly seated and our order was taken. They mostly offer steak dishes but also some chicken. I do not eat steak but really enjoyed the chicken, and everyone else enjoyed their steaks. They were cooked they way they liked and were ordered. All our food was really good and quick. It did take a while to get our check when we finished eating, though. The atmosphere was very casu...Read More

Outback Steak & Oyster Bar

Restaurant | "Outback"

Quote:
This is not the Outback chain. The menu is totally different. I have eaten here several times and had both good and bad experiences. The first few times I ate there, the food was excellent and the service was good. There is usually a wait for a table. I do not normally eat steak, but they had one that was very well marinated and quite tasty.

The last trip I took there was quite different. There was a wait, and then our food and service were not good. The food was very undercooked and the server did not return to the table to check on us so it could be sent back. This was a bad experience, and because of it, I do not plan on revisiting the restaurant again anytime soon.

IHOP

Restaurant

This restaurant is conveniently located just off the main strip in Branson. We ate there one more for breakfast during my last trip to Branson. They serve really good breakfast foods. We were quickly seated and our waitress took our drink order and then returned to take our food order. The food and check also arrived quickly and the waitress was good to check back in with us and refill our drinks. The menu has a variety of pancakes, omelets, breakfast combos, French toast, waffles, and crepes for breakfast foods. Then for lunch they have cheese sticks, chicken strips, shrimp, sandwiches, burgers, melts, soups, and salads. On the dinner menu they have several steak, chicken, and po...Read More
