My parents and I went for the weekend. It is our getaway trip. Usually we go shopping one day, see a play at night, stay at the Royal York, and then head to Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The Royal York Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. It has a great view of the "downtown" scene. The PATH is definitely worth walking. It can take you several places and there is always something different happening.

Quick Tips:

Always check with the hotel to find good deals. Usually they have coupons and great suggestions on where to go.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walk the PATH or use the subway.

Best Things Nearby:
Shopping: Eaton Centre, Queen's Quay Terminal, and Bloor & Yorkville

The PATH allows you to walk all the way to Eaton Centre underground. So, if it's raining out, you don't need to get wet.

Marche's is an excellent place to eat. You can walk to it using the PATH as well.

Best Things About the Resort:
The lobby is wonderful. When you step in, you feel like you have stepped back in time and are now royality.

Resort Experience:
The lobby is full of gold and marble. There is valet parking available, and it is very well centralized within the city. It is within walking distance of almost everything: Hockey Hall of Fame, Eaton Centre, CN Tower, Theatre District, Marche's, Eddie's Bar and Grill, and a wonderful indoor market.

The rooms are a bit cramped, but that is expected in a downtown hotel. The rooms are very well taken care of and have wonderful bathrobes to go crazy over.

They also have several eating areas in the "mall," along with a spa and several stores.

There is also a pool and fitness center on a different level.

The price can be a little high, but they often run great packages.

Marche's

When you walk into Marche's, it is as if you stepped into the streets of France. The floor is cobblestone and there is a fountain on your left for filling up your water glass. Marche's hands you a card, and you get to walk around the streets to find what you want to eat. There is a vast selection of foods and desserts. In the center there is a great coffee stand. And, of course, there is a bar for anyone who likes a drink with dinner or a cocktail with their dessert. It is a very friendly place.
