Wild Djibouti


Djibouti is one of the wildest landscapes on earth (it starred as The Forbidden Zone in the '70s classic “Planet of the Apes”). There are extreme temperatures; volcanic badlands, primeval mountain forest, and Rift Valley salt lakes. There is also virtually no infrastructure outside the capital and no possibility of exploration without good local help and the most solid of off-road vehicles with many spare tyres. But, despite the difficulties, the beauty and fascination of this place is overwhelming and there is much kindness to be found within the people, despite occasionally severe poverty.
