Temporary Local

A May 1999 trip to Kennebunk by theme park junkie

Quote: I have had the occasional boyfriend from different parts of America. Ryan is from Maine, land of lobster, and I love lobster. Ryan is okay, too, which is why we're now just friends, friends with lobster, which is the best benefit.

McDonald's

Restaurant

Quote:
The McDonald's had lobster rolls, which are common there. When you can find lobster even at the Golden Arches, you know you're in some kind of utopia. It's a good-quality meal, especially with the fries and soda. Soda is pronounced "soder" by the way.

Walking Downtown

Attraction

Quote:
There is a little two-story building with its own history that houses artifacts from the local area. It is easily viewed in 2 hours and nice, but very small.

Old Orchard Beach

Attraction

Quote:
Old Orchard is known by the locals. It's a beach with a tiny amusement park with easily dismantled carnival rides where you pay for each ride with tickets, not the best way to spend money. However, bars and cafés buffer the beach from the town and the road through the town is named after the beach. Swim in the chilly Atlantic, grab a meal at the bars, and go home to change for a lobster feast somewhere. Try the theme park once. It's cute, but you get more bang for your buck with the mouse in the south over in Florida.
