Best Things Nearby:
Hayward, WI, about 17 miles away, is a nice resort town, with shops, restaurants, museums, and lots to do. There are lots of places nearby to rent bikes and canoes. Copper Falls State Park is less than an hour's drive and the falls are beautiful, but don't forget your DEET!

Best Things About the Resort:
The location is great if you like the outdoors and nature. And yet you are less than an hour from Superior, Bayfield, and Ashland, WI, all on Lake Superior. We enjoyed the lodge, which was designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Resort Experience:
It is pretty much in the woods. There are bike, cross-country skiing, and ATV trails, and also a hill that is no longer used for skiing, but now used for tubing and snowboarding. They have both indoor and outdoor pools, and a whirlpool indoors. There is a restaurant, and they also serve food in the bar. The town of Cable is a cute little town about 5 miles away. There is a REALLY nice visitor center just east of Ashland, on Highway 2.

I advise going to the breakfast meeting on Monday morning, when they serve juice, coffee, and breakfast rolls. But more importantly, they have a staff with maps and brochures and lots of information and tips about the area.

We were there for lunch, and it was a beautiful day, so we were outside on the patio. It was so nice. The Italian-beef sandwich was served with fries, peppers, and au jus on the side, and it was only $6.95. The atmosphere was great.

Restaurant

We went on Friday night for the fish fry, and cod was only $7.95, but they had other fish specials that were $14 and $15. The cod was good, and we liked the atmosphere. We did notice a lot of people having pizza, so either they have really good pizza or it's the only place in town to get it.

Restaurant

We had pizza at the bar twice during the week we were there. Beer was $3 a glass and a small pizza was around $8. It has a nice atmosphere, and you can walk from your condo if you’d like.

Attraction | "Walking the Trail"

There is a 2-mile trail that goes up and down some steps, but not too many, and around the falls and the gorges. It is beautiful!!! I took so many pictures. There is a fee to get into the park, but if all you want to do is take the trail, it is only $3 and well worth it.

Attraction

It is a big attraction in the area, and it has a buffet and small restaurant. It is nice inside, and if you like casinos, it is worth 20-mile drive to see it.
