Best Things About the Resort:
It was quiet and secluded, with a nice view and BEARS in the parking lot!

Resort Experience:
It is in the perfect location in Gatlinburg; traffic light no. 10 is the last light before entering the national park. There are several great restaurants near light no. 10. Unfortunately, the resort is about a mile straight up from light no. 10, so you can't walk to anything. There are two small stores on the way up the steep, winding road. The resort is small, but it was clean and un-crowded, and the kids had the indoor pool all to themselves. The screened porch was clean and had a rollaway bed on it, so the kids "camped out" there. We had to buy extra toilet paper and Kleenex. There was one small box of detergent provided and dish soap.

We stopped in for a late lunch. We had a large round table for six overlooking the woods and a large birdfeeder. We enjoyed the apple fritters and apple butter. I had fried okra. The adult dinners came with soup, so the waitress let the kids have some soup too. The food was Southern-oriented, and chicken and dumplings was very thick. We picked up some extra jars of apple butter on the way out. The receipt had a coupon for a 10% discount on our next visit.

The Park Grill is similar to The Peddlar, but it's not on the river. It's fine dining with a salad bar. It also has a little gift shop.

Sit at the counter or outside on the porch. You get a great old-time soda-fountain experience. Try the banana split!! It is very near the Alwine Pottery store.

This is a steep climb up a paved walkway in the clouds! You get a great view of the clouds from the lookout tower. There is a restroom at the parking lot level. There is no admission fee to get in this park!
