The scenery on the Road to Hana is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Waianapanapa State Park is a must-see with its black beaches and turquoise water. Lahaina is also a great town with a lot of history and a plethora of tourist shops. Quick Tips: If you stop by some of the shops on Front Street, you can get discounts on most of the tours by agreeing to spend an hour or two at breakfast. Someone will try to sell you a timeshare, but from all accounts, no one is pushy. Best Way To Get Around: A car rental is a must if you are planning on traveling around the island. A Jeep Wrangler is a great way to get around, especially with the top down for the trip to Hana. Life doesn't g...Read More

On the trip over, I began a conversation with a nice couple who frequent Maui. They asked where we were staying and I told them the Fairmont Kea Lani. When their mouths dropped and they said it was the best place on the island I knew I was in for a treat. I was not disappointed. When the car pulled up to the complimentary valet we were presented with a lei, a hot towel, a drink and a bellhop to show us around our room. The design of this beautiful hotel looks more like something you would see on the Greek isles with its high arches and dome shaped roof. Somehow though it works sitting there on the Wailea beach and the open floor plan makes the most of its location. The rooms are very understated ...Read More

I have been to many of the Hard Rock establishments, but this by far was my best visit to one. They have a convenient location directly on Front Street. The service was wonderful. The food was very good, which is something that sometimes lacks at the Hard Rock. If you are heading to Maui, check it out and you will get great service, good food, and lots of rock-n-roll memorabilia.

Start out on the Road to Hana as early as possible since it takes at least 3 hours each way. The road is only 50 miles, but many areas 10mph is the top speed. Make sure to adhere to these traffic signs as this road can be very dangerous. If you see a local be polite and let them pass as soon as you can pull over, if you don't some get VERY angry. Through the curves you will find yourself amidst tropical foliage and bamboo forests. The greenery will give way to breath-taking views of the Pacific ocean as you find yourself atop of cliffs. Waterfalls can be seen in many places along the road to Hana and when you see one you will probably want to get out of your car to get the best view, as some are...Read More

Lahaina has everything you need in a tourist town such as shops, food and entertainment. You will also find the unexpected which comes in the form of many art galleries. There are things that fit here such as famed ocean artists Wyland and Lassen. Other things though include jellyfish statues, paintings of everything from ocean scenes to Andy Warhol. There are also shops that turn fine photography into beautiful works of art, such as the Peter Lik gallery. A cool shop called Celebrities has many works of art if you are into pop culture. They have things for fans of everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Paul Stanley of Kiss. Even if you prefer vintage French posters to a dolphin coffee table by Wyland, there...Read More
