An August 2005 trip

Quote: The worst place to go in St. Louis with your kids
Attraction | "The Magic House"
The main problem is that there need to be a LIMIT on how many kids are allowed in the facility at once, and I'm not talking about fire codes here either. I am talking about the kids-to-available-activities ratio.
We went on a Thursday around noon and paid our $24 dollars to get in, and the place was a freaking madhouse--the lack of parking should have been my first clue that we needed to find something else to do. There were so many kids there that it was impossible for my children to experience anything other than frustration and disappointment. We often found ourselves waiting extended periods of time for different activities to open up and then have some kids there on a field trip bull-rush an activity while rude parents and childcare workers on field trips let them.
With large groups of kids in there, the "science" of the activities is lost. All they want to do is see it light up, make noise, or whatever it is in 20 seconds or less and move on--they don't care how it works. Just make it work.
Save your hard-earned money and pay the 6 bucks for parking at Grant's Farm. You and your kids will enjoy it much more than seeing how many bratty kids you can stuff in a 3-level house, although maybe that's the science part?
