Getting Along in Paradise

A July 2005 trip to Princeville by Paigewink

Our paradise nightmare. Big groups of family and friends are not the greatest idea. We had so much fun, but it is hard to get along.

A must is the "Best of Kauai" tour. They pick you up at your condo/hotel, take you to the Kilauea Lighthouse, the Fern Grotto, drive past many secret and beautiful beaches, and then you get a 25-minute helicopter ride. It is very reasonably priced, compared to the helicopter rides in themselves. Twenty-five minutes is about the perfect amount of time in the heli so that you don't get sick. Another great place to go is the very end of the road on the North end of the island. There is a great beach where you can snorkel. It's good for beginners. I had never snorkeled before, and I don't much like the water, but it was the perfect place for the first time.

Quick Tips:

Try to get a place with a kitchen, the food is incredibly expensive. It's best to cook at home most of the time, and just go out once or twice to a nice place.

Best Way To Get Around:

I think the best way to get around is by rental car. And don't worry; you will use it plenty to make it worthwhile. There is more to see on this tiny island than you can imagine.
Best Things Nearby:
Princeville Hotel

Best Things About the Resort:
The staff is very helpful and accommodating.

Resort Experience:
Even though this unit was older than the one we had last time, it was just as nice. It's so great to have a full kitchen and a washer/dryer right in the unit when you are on vacation.

This resort is located on the North shore of Kauai, in Princeville. It is part of a timeshare, and the maintenance is around $900.00 for a week. I think that is a very good price for the 2-bedroom, 2-bath with full kitchen, and laundry in the unit. It has a very tropical decor and there is plenty of room for six people to sleep and live comfortably. There is a master bedroom with a queen bed, the second bedroom has either a double, or two twin beds and the couch is a queen size sofa sleeper. The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are in good condition. They have great concierges who are glad to help you book any kind of tour that you want to try for the best prices. It is great for any kind of travelers. Couples, families and groups.

Brick Oven PizzaBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

This was a pizza place that has an awesome atmosphere. The food was great. We bought a couple different pizzas to share, and an appetizer pizza called Puh-puh. Sounds gross, but it was really pretty good. We had 9 people in our group, and they did great to take care of all of us. They decorated with license plates from all over the country/world. People send them to them, and they hang them up all over the place, so there is plenty to look at and make conversation from. I plan on going back on my next vacation to Kauai, which I do every two years. The food was great and so was the service.
