A December 2000 trip
to Big Sur by gonewriting
Quote: Just happened upon this place when driving up Hwy 1 in California.
The rooms are right near the edge of a 350 ft sheer cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean!! The "Million Dollar View"
Walk down the nature trail to the rocky shoreline and see the natural waterfall, which is the tallest on the Big Sur coast!
Some of the wildlife to be seen around Ragged Point include the grazing deer, fox, racoons of course (BIG ones too!), the predatory birds (eagles, falcons and hawks) that soar overhead, and the Grey Whales migrate just offshore from Thanksgiving through Easter!!
Tip: fill up on gas before you get here... Gas was .99 per gallon when I went !!!!
The weather along the southern and middle coast of California is very mild...I sat on the balcony and left the window open all night in the middle of December....
As close to perfection as one could hope for in a romantic, secluded getaway.
You can request a king bed or two double beds, and there is cable tv (though you won't want to watch anything but the scenery).
All the small extras of staying in a nice resort including a coffee maker and a breakfast table with chairs set by the glass wall.
There are 22 rooms at Ragged Point -- single or double occupancy from $79 - $179 depending on location of room and time of year you go. Each additional person is $10. Unfortunately, no pets allowed.
Restaurant next door and a gas station very near.
