An August 2005 trip to Branson by wauhob3

Quote: Branson has a wide variety of activities for all ages. I was traveling with teens, so we did more of the amusement park activities than shows.

Since I was traveling with teens, we chose to do the parks more than anything else. We went to Silver Dollar City and Celebration City on a 3-day Park Hopper pass. We live near a water park, so we didn't go to their water park. The only show we saw was the Hot Seat improv show at the Hughes Theater. The kids enjoyed that, but they weren't interested in any other shows. We also shopped at the three outlet malls. If we go back, I'd like to spend some time on Table Rock Lake. It looked like a wonderful boating lake, and there are marinas where you can rent boats and jet skis. Quick Tips: If you want to do amusement parks, then you should explore a Park Hopper pass through www.silverdollarcity.c...Read More

We tried this restaurant using a www.restaurant.com certificate and were pleased. They had many eclectic offerings, from pasta to steak, but we all decided to have sandwiches, because it was early evening and really was a late lunch for us. Everyone was pleased with their sandwiches. We also ordered their steak mushroom soup, and it was delicious and made with real cream. There was an entertainer practicing and it was a Thursday, so they must have dining entertainment most nights.

This park has something to offer everyone. It has many rides, a pioneer area, shops, and shows. The kids enjoyed the Mad Scientist show, and we all enjoyed the ending sock-hop show. It was hot, hot in August, though, and I abandoned the teens in the heat of the day and went back to the resort for a few hours. The park is also pretty hilly.

We had the barbeque buffet in the front of the park, which was good and reasonably priced for an amusement park. There's also a pizza buffet for around $6, among many other restaurants and outdoor booths. There's a parade at 11am that if you want to participate in, you can carry a life-size puppet.

Celebration City : Individual & Group Ticket Sales

Attraction | "Celebration City"

Quote:
It is a boardwalk- type park with go-carts, bungee rides, roller coasters, and games. It's open from 3pm to 10pm. It also has restaurants and shops that were surprisingly affordable. At the Paper Moon, you can get neat things and dye your candles. The energy level in the park revs up after dark. The lawn Night Fire laser show at 9:30pm was really cool, and they end with some songs to dance to, which sounds goofy, but it was fun. We did the chicken dance and Macarena.
