The resort has countless activities for guests to take advantage of while there. One we enjoyed very much was the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater held on Wednesday night. Another was the Great American Music Review show held at the Ski Lodge Tuesday night. And still another was the Ice Cream Social Thursday afternoon.

Quick Tips:

The nearby town of Harrisonburg has a lot to offer, including a library where you can get online at no charge. Dave's Downtown Taverna has great gyros! It’s a really neat place!

Check the resort's activities bulletin carefully. It is jam-packed.

Best Way To Get Around:

Our only transportation, besides walking, was our car. We didn't see any public transit.

Thomas Jefferson's "Monticello" is wonderful to visit, as you learn so much about the man here! Walking through Mr. Jefferson's gardens with a tour guide was such a wonderful experience, too! Guests are welcome to a tomato or two if they’d like, and the staff at Monticello, who tend the gardens, are too!

There is much Civil War history in the surrounding area, including in the vicinity of the town of New Market.

Best Things About the Resort:
There are a lot of great things about the resort. The umpteen number of activities - SO MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM - makes it a super vacation spot in our book!

We attended the Wednesday-night Murder Mystery Dinner Theater held right on the resort premises - and it was tremendous fun! The food was great, too!

It's awesome being right in the mountains, as it feels very special. There are mountain trails to hike, too - in fact, the resort provides escorted hikes!

Resort Experience:
It's a wonderfully laid out resort that is very large, with many - and varied - timeshare units. There are countless activities, as shown on the weekly schedule, for owners and guests every day of the week.

The pools are great and there are several, both indoor and outdoor. There is a WATER PARK being built as I write this, and it won't be very long before it will be open!

The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater was great, as was the Great American Music Review show, which was held at the ski lodge. Also, the Ice Cream Social held on Thursday afternoon on the deck of the Ski Lodge was a fun and oh-so-tasty event!

Our unit, a lower level one at The Summit, was all we could want for the week! It had great views off the deck - and THAT was a very lovely place to relax! At The Summit, it's pretty private! A feeling of well-being prevailed!

This was an RCI bonus week for us in late-July, early August -- we felt we had been very lucky to get it, and we hopefully will get there again!

Skyline Drive is a 105-mile-long winding road that runs along the Blue Ridge Mountains through the length of the park. There are many overlooks, a total of 75 altogether - which provide outstanding vistas of spectacular scenery. We were very glad we had film along, as we got some great shots of wildflowers and various types of foliage.

It also provides far off views of the Blue Ridge Mountains -- which also provides some great photo shoots!

We stopped at the Byrd Visitor Center where we caught a young park ranger telling an audience all kinds of things about the animals in the park, and she was having the time of her life--we could tell she really and truly enjoys her job!

There are trails that take you into the "forests of Shenandoah", where you can see many plants and animals. These trails total more than 500 miles, and many of the trailheads are located on Skyline Drive and in developed areas. Much of the park, therefore, is accessible to hikers.

We found Skyline Drive to be a truly awesome driving experience! It is one of the "must-dos" of your vacation!
