Overview

Sedona is known for its red-rock formations, where many Westerns were filmed between 1930 and 1955. They are an awesome sight that cannot be captured in pictures, although you will try all day long. One of the first things to do is take the Sedona Trolley Tours A & B. They are fully narrated, and each is about an hour long. You will get a great overview of the area and some insight on what to do while there, and you will learn the names of the formations, like Snoopy and Coffee Pot. You can find any kind of adventure you want, from 4-wheeling jeeps to horseback riding to hot-air ballooning, if you’re willing to spend the money. Most tours are quite pricey for someone on a budget, but there are...Read More

We stopped in for lunch, and the waitress was wonderful. She explained things and even brought us a sample of a strange new food we'd never heard of, jicama. We had and appetizer of cactus fries (prickly pear cactus deep-fried, served with a black-bean vanilla sauce), which was delicious. The menu was a mix of barbeque sandwiches, salads, and entrées. Buffalo is featured here. I had a buffalo steak salad that was grilled perfectly. It is a Catholic church that was built by a daughter for her parents. It is built into the rock and is a beautiful place to worship, sitting in the midst of these most amazing sights. It is easy to feel closer to the Lord and all of his works. They hold services there still, so it is a working church.

This is a very cool way to experience the red rocks, and the whole family can enjoy it. The age requirement is only 18 months. It is quite bumpy, though, so I wouldn't recommend it for someone that small, but anyone 5 and over would enjoy it. The sights are quite beautiful, and a camera is a must. It is a good way to see what 4x4-ing is all about.
