Tokyo is one of the most exciting cities in the world, but unfortuneately, most travel books on the city do not list the best places in town to have a good time. Don't worry, uncle John will give you all the details!

To be frank, if you like nightclubs, pubs, and bars, you will most definitely enjoy this city. Having a good night out on the town is something that Tokyoites know how to do, which means the variety of opportunities available, from funky discos to coffee houses to artsy lounges is truly amazing.

Quick Tips:

Bring plenty of cash! Average cover charge for nightclubs is around 4000 Yen (approx. ), and drinks are usually about 800 Yen each. Don't let that discourage you, however, because the experience is truly like no other. Like the US and Europe, bars and pubs are free to enter.

Best Way To Get Around:

Tokyo's extensive subway system is cheap, punctual, and easy to navigate. Trains stop running at around 12:30 until 5:00 in the morning, so be prepared to either come back early or make a night of it. And yes, most bars and clubs are open until at least first train (depending on the area).

Ibis

Hotel

THE best location and price. There are cheaper rooms, but they are far away, and are not nearly as nice, and not that much cheaper. 3 minutes walking distance to Roppongi clubs. If you are coming to Tokyo to party, do yourself a favor and get a room here. Sorry, I don''t have the number, but it should be very easy to find.

Gas Panic

Activity

The Roppongi area of Tokyo is known as the wildest nightlife area in the city, and Gas Panic is known as the craziest/sleaziest/rowdiest place in Roppongi. There are actually three Gas Panics in Roppongi, due to its ever growing popularity with the American military crowd, and Japanese who like to party with them. ALWAYS packed. Music ranges from hip-hop to rock. I recommend starting the night off with a trip to Gas Panic, at least for one drink to say you went there. Anywhere you go after will not scare you, I promise!

Lexington Queen

Activity

When any foreign celebrity of any kind comes to town, the first place they hit is 'The Lex'. This explains the slightly higher cover. Besides celebrities, this place is the hangout for foreign models and bored rich kids. If you really want to look cool, sneak into the VIP lounge and rub elbows with the fat cats. If you look the part, no questions will be asked.

Vietti's

Activity

This is the king of hip-hop, funk, and R&B clubs in town. If that is your thang, and you dress the part, then you will come away happy. Just play nice, because you don't want to get into it with the regulars here. Trust me.

Deja Vu

Activity

After a few hours of running wild through the streets of Tokyo, chances are that you will want to chill out somewhere for a little while. Deja Vu is just the place. Groovy music, psychadelic ambience, MELLOW crowd and staff, big comfy couches for all. This place will recharge your batteries. Also a great place to hang out and get to know new friends you met elsewhere.
