Overview

The & 3 minute roller coaster ride (aka the Manhattan Express) at the New York, New York Hotel & Casino was exceptional. From the first drop of over 20 stories to the upside down loop, this roller coaster challenges the rules of physics. The ride is short and a bit expensive but I am not sure I would have had a voice left if I had to scream for more than 3 minutes.Quick Tips: The dress code in Las Vegas is very casual. No need to bring your fancy gown for the night time shows. They won't turn you away from the slot machines even if you are wearing flip-flops.Best Way To Get Around: If you are going from one place to another on the strip, walking is the most fun since you want to...Read More

Paris Las Vegas

Walking into a mini version of Paris without the pressures of having your French misunderstood was lots of fun. The hotel staff was courteous and there were always people cleaning (particularly poolside where the high winds whipped the empty glasses around). The casino ceiling is painted like a day sky and so it doesn't seem as dark as many of the others casinos on the strip. My biggest complaint was that the gym, which can only be accessed through the spa, isn't available to hotel guests unless a fee is paid.

Enigma Garden Cafe

Restaurant

Quote:
The Las Vegas coffeehouse is off the beaten path. We were told it was within walking distance from the Stratosphere but it really wasn't. The beautiful garden is filled with flowers and patio furniture. If dining in the direct sunlight isn't for you, there is a small inside room with air conditioning as well as a small patio with a makeshift roof and fans. I ate a hummus platter with olives and also had a fruit salad but a full lunch menu including sandwiches, like the Beefy Bondi, and salads looked great. I drank a delicious glass of lemonade as well that had a honey flavor to it.

Hamada of Japan

Restaurant

Quote:
One of the few Sushi/Japanese restaurants on the Strip, this restaurant is located in the Luxor hotel. We were pleasantly suprised to find that we were able to get a table right away without a reservation but we were shocked to see that we had to ask for an a la carte sushi menu. During the meal, the waitress rarely returned to see if we wanted to order an additional drink. The sushi was, however, fresh but both the spicy tuna roll and eel rolls were drowned in their appropriate sauces.

Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino

Attraction | "Bill Mahr"

Quote:
The theater is set up so there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Victoria Jackson of Casual Sex and Saturday Night Live fame delivered a short but funny stand up routine to open for Bill Mahr. Her witty poetry and funny impressions were quite entertaining. Bill Mahr delivered a constant patter of funny lines but didn't really have the crowd rolling in the aisles. I expected his material to have more of a political slant because of his Politically Incorrect late night show but instead he spent most of his time joking about relationships and drugs. The majority of his political jokes centered around the President and Monica Lewinsky.

Stratosphere Tower

Attraction

Quote:
The Stratosphere is America's tallest observation tower and has two of the world's highest rides located over 100 stories above the ground: The High Roller roller coaster and the Big Shot. Once at the top you can get a 360-degree panorama from both an enclosed deck or the uncovered deck. The day we went was very windy so the rides weren't running. Although we were disappointed, we appreciated the fact that those in charge decided to exercise caution.

Mandara Spa in Las Vegas

Story/Tip

Quote:
Since relaxation was the goal of our trip, we spent a few hours being pampered on in the Mandara Spa in the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. Spa guest have full access to the gym which was large and clean but unfortunately is staffed with unhelpful and unfriendly gym attendants. It was not the typical hotel 'work out room' but instead had many tread mills, bikes and stairmasters. The spa facilities, including the bathrooms, steam room, locker room and showers were very clean. We did a spa package for couples which included an aromatique body silk scrub, a soak in a whirlpool and a massage. The women who performed our services were knowledgable about the spa and Las Vegas as well as clean cut. ...Read More
