A September 2004 trip
to Florence by lanimaesd
Quote: Our 5 days in Florence was part of our "we've finally finished college" trip to Europe. My friend and I were definitely on a budget, but could not resist the urge to splurge once in a while!
Hotel | "Hotel Cimabue"
Our room was quite large, with very high ceilings. The bathroom was a decent size, but the stand-up shower was rather small - our one main frustration throughout Europe! Overall, the room was clean, comfortable, and functional.
The location of the hotel was somewhat tucked out of the way. It was a good 20-minute walk to the city center, but the hotel could always call a taxi, which normally would arrive within 5 to 10 minutes.
We really enjoyed the deluxe continental breakfast that was included in the room rate. The breakfast room was very cute and cozy, reminiscent of a small café. It also contained a well-stocked bar where we could enjoy an afternoon cocktail.
Hotel Cimabue is a comfortable and friendly-staffed hotel that is perfect for budget-minded travelers.

VIA BONIFACIO LUPI 7

I advise that you should not leave this restaurant without trying their blueberry steak. Berries with your meat may sound a little odd, but I have yet to find a better steak anywhere else!
The atmosphere was lively, and by 8pm every seat was filled. Our server was fun, friendly, and knowledgeable - he recommended the blueberry steak, which I would have never chosen on my own!
We were also very impressed with our bill. It was around $30 per person, which included pasta, salad, entrée, dessert, and a jug of wine. This was our "splurge night," and we ate like queens!
The only negative I can think of is that there were many foreign tourists, so it may not be the place to go if you want to feel like one of the "locals." But, if you want a delicious and authentic Italian meal, Acqua cannot be missed!
