The 4th of July fireworks and concert, seen from in front of the U.S. Capitol, the National Zoo, dining, shopping, Rock Creek Park, and Twilight Tattoo (U.S. Army evening demonstration)

Quick Tips:

Stay outside the city, but within easy walking distance to the metro. Get a metro pass (increments of days/weeks/month). Check the Internet for cultural events (festivals/concerts/etc.), there will probably be one going on somewhere while you're there.

Best Way To Get Around:

Metro

Restaurant | "Uno (Pizzaria & Bar)"

They have the best pizza and salads I've eaten in Georgetown. The great part is that they're located in the middle of some of the best bar-hopping and shopping in the DC area.

Rock Creek ParkBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

This park runs down the length of Rock Creek and there are miles and miles of bike trails for biking, running, or hiking. There is a horseback riding facility at the main entrance of the park.

This park saved my sanity in the big city. You drive in the entrance, and it's almost like you're transported 80 miles outside of the city. Very rarely can you even hear the traffic. There are lots of grassy areas great for games, lying on a blanket, or just enjoying the space and quiet.

Attraction | "National Zoo"

This zoo is great. There is so much to see. I've been more times than I can count, and I still enjoy going again. There are babies being born all the time. This spring, there were cheetah cubs and just recently a panda baby was born.
