Boothbay Harbor Vacation

We went to Boothbay Harbor this year. It was a wonderful trip. We went sailing, and shopping. We also went to the Rockland Lobster Festival. The weather was perfect, in the 70s during the day and low 60s to high 50s at night. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Hotel | "Flagship Inn"

The Flagship Inn is a nice, friendly, moderate hotel. There is an outdoor pool and they offer free coffee, juice and a paper every day. A trolley stops in front of the hotel everyday from 10am to 5pm (it runs every 20 minutes) to bring you to various places in town. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and we were very happy with our accommodations.

We went to eat for the seafood. The place was busy, so we had to wait about 15 minutes. We waited in the outside bar area, which was right on the water with a beautiful view, so it was no problem. The food was excellent. Service was quick but not rushed. I would highly recommend this place.

Burnt Island Lighthouse TourBest of IgoUgo

We took this trip to Burnt Island Lighthouse one day. It was great. You are brought to Burnt Island to take a trip back in time to 1950 and meet a lighthouse keeper and his family. They describe in detail what their daily lives were like. It lasted 2 1/2 hours (1/2 hour for the trip) and the time flies.

Rockland Lobster FestivalBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

The festival is a very popular one in Maine. It was very crowded, but fortunately, there were shuttles running from several local schools in the area. Directions were easy to get from the hotel staff or newspaper. There was a ship from the Navy docked there and tours were being offered that day. The lines were extremely long, and it was a hot day, so we passed on that. The food was wonderful, not only lobster (although that was the main event) but other items as well. We bought several items from the craft festival set up there, including a beautiful painting of a harbor scene. The drive up was nice, and we stopped on the way back to view the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse.

Pemaquid Point Light
We went to this lighthouse on the way back from the Rockland Lobster Festival. It is worth the trip. The view is wonderful, and there are picnic tables to relax near. You can see quite far from the lighthouse. We enjoyed the tour and just sitting and watching the ocean view.
