If you like to fish, shop, eat, go to the theatre, or just relax, Door County is the place to go! In the 5 days we were at Landmark Resort in Egg Harbor, we managed to do all the above. It was a wonderful place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

Best Things Nearby:
It is the beginning of a series of small towns that are filled with unique shops and restaurants, not to mention the fantastic views along the way of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is located on acres of natural beauty, overlooking the beautiful waters of Green Bay and offering only nonsmoking suites. The sunsets were a sight to behold! There was a Jacuzzi in each building and a wonderful large outdoor pool close by.

Resort Experience:
The unit we stayed in was a small one-bedroom unit. Our unit faced the woods and was very dark due to being "under the trees."

The smallest room was the bedroom, as there was only room for the bed and two very small cupboards on each side of the bed that were supposed to be the closets. I believe the bathroom was almost as large!

Even though the kitchen was small, it did have a full-size dish washer, a mini-microwave, an apartment-size stove, and a full-size refrigerator. It was pretty well stocked with utensils, so we were able to cook a couple of good-size meals. We did take advantage of the outdoor grills that are generously spaced throughout the grounds.

The living/dining room was a nice area, with a sofa bed, two comfortable chairs, coffee table, dining table with four chairs, and a 25-inch TV. The cabinet under the TV was very nice for storing articles for the two people who slept on the sofa bed.

The deck was also small and not too useable. Even though this unit seemed very small, it was well maintained and clean. We did have three things that needed fixing, and within a half-hour, they were there and fixed them.

We enjoyed the outdoors the most during our stay at the Landmark. The pools are fantastic and kept very clean.

The lobby areas of each building are very comfortable, with a large fireplace and comfy furniture. They also had wireless computer connections in each lobby.

I would definitely return to Landmark, as it was a very well-kept and friendly resort.

Restaurant | "C & C Supper Club"

Door County 2005
The C & C Supper Club is a well-established restaurant and bar that provides fine dining and service. All food, sauces, soups, etc., are made from scratch. The seafood entrée I had was the seafood sampler that included four different types of "fresh" fish. My husband had a fantastic rib-eye steak, which was cooked to exactly his taste. Both dinners included our choice of one of four freshly made salads, a potato choice, a vegetable, and rolls. The service was also excellent, with several waiters and waitress stopping by and making sure our glasses were refilled and that we had everything we needed.

The only negative was that into the dining area we were seated in, there were three steps up, and when we left the area, because it was dimly lit, I missed a step. I landed on my feet, but it was awkward, and I couldn't help but wonder how many other people had done the same thing. The hostess had brought these steps to our attention upon entering the dining area, but that didn't help me remember them when we exited!

Summer KitchenBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

This must-stop restaurant is one we enjoy each time that we are in Door County. The Summer Kitchen is a garden restaurant that is attractive and unique inside and out. They specialize in soup, and a cup of one of their soups is part of each entrée. These can include anything from Spicy Tomato Dill to Cream of Mushroom to French Cabbage. Two of us had a delicious Almond Chicken Salad, which was a large plate with a variety of lettuce greens, on top of which was a large scoop of their chicken salad topped with almonds. Included with the salad was a nice variety of fruit. Another person had the quiche special, which was a large slice of the quiche and with the variety of fruit. The fourth person had the special half sandwich, which was a generous half sandwich, and it included the soup bar as well as a half piece of cherry pie. I would highly recommend this unique restaurant to all Door County goers!

Restaurant

The Landmark Restaurant is very convenient for those who stay at the resort because of the walkways that lead right to it. Although they don't have outdoor dining (the bar does have an outdoor area), they do have large windows that overlook the bluff and the bay. Dinner during a sunset is spectacular! Even though there aren't a lot of items on the menu, they have good choices and varieties. Two of us had the scallops. The presentation was very attractive and the meal was delicious. The other two had salmon and steak, which also was very delicious and served just to their taste.

Every time we go to Door County, we make sure we attend the Peninsula Players Theatre. The setting is beautiful, and one of things we like to do is get there early to watch the sunset over the bay. This year it was raining, so we had to forego this privilege, but if the sky is clear or partly cloudy, make sure you arrive at least a half-hour to 1 hour early to take in this spectacular natural show. They set up chairs along the shoreline, so if you arrive early, you can be assured of one of these good seats. However, there is plenty of room for blankets if you don't get one of the chairs.

The show this year was one of the best I've ever seen. "Tom, Dick, and Harry," written by Ray and Michael Cooney, is a high-energy comedy about Tom and his wife, who want to adopt a baby. Tom's brothers, Dick and Harry, help out by getting Tom mixed up with illegal immigrants, dead bodies, the Russian mafia, and the local constable. Add a visit from a first wife he never had and things get hilariously complicated. This silliness kept us laughing throughout their performance. Kevin McKillip who played Tom is the best performer I've seen and must have endless energy to play his character. His facial expressions alone were worth seeing! Don't miss this wonderful theatre experience when you are in Door County!
