A July 2005 trip to Cook Islands by tough

The highlights were the friendly people and great restaurants and cafes. The two-person scooters were easy to ride and get around the island on. We enjoyed horse trekking, a tour of the island, snorkeling and a trip in a glass-bottom boat. The Island Night at The Rarotongan Hotel and the Barbeque Night were great and very enjoyable. Great value for money.Quick Tips: Take easy wear clothes--pareus and togs, a sweater for evenings, and old shoes for kayaking and walking around in the water. There are a number of side roads that you can choose to run along. There are a range of gradients, but it's generally easy running. The people are very friendly, unlike the dogs. The first morning on Rarotonga, I went running along the beach and had a dog run up behind me and bite my shorts. From then on, I stuck to the road!
