Thanksgiving in York, Maine is cause for a celebration, as this is the weekend when the Christmas lights are lit on Nubble Lighthouse, the most photographed lighthouse in the U.S.

Overview

Seagulls at Nubble
We stayed at the Anchorage in York Beach. This is an excellent place to stay. If you are in a room with an ocean view and on the second or third floors, you can actually see the lighting of the Nubble lighthouse from your balcony. If you choose, you can also can a shuttle bus from the beach and go to the special lighting ceremony right at the lighthouse park.

There are two buildings, but I recommend the newer building that faces the ocean. If you are on the third floor, you can see the Nubble Lighthouse. The rooms have two double beds. The rooms are nice, but not extravagant. The lobby or atrium of this building contains a pool that is long and narrow, and it's really great to swim the length.
