It was like entering a very different world. It sits only a few miles from West Yellowstone Park. We were surprised at the amount of snow (which it is famous for), even the end of March. It still had over 6 feet of snow, and we were told that the average for then was 10 feet. Just a few miles away in West Yellowstone, there was just a few inches of snow. We had entered the second North Pole. We were excited to find over 200 miles of groomed snowmobile/cross-country ski trails. Many places to rent equipment at very reasonable prices. Our unit was nice, with a fireplace in the front room and wood beams in the ceiling - it had a very rustic feeling. Decor was moose and bear, and it fit with our surroundings. We did get caught in a major snowstorm, and the roads and everything in the Village closed early. Our son, who was going to head home, had to stay an extra day until the storm passed. It was beautiful to watch from our glass sliding door leading to a balcony - the large snowflakes and vast amount of snow that fell. Being from Montana, I am used to snow, but this was beyond the snowfall I am even used to. They keep everything plowed, however, and we found it easy to get around in our Jeep. We loved sightseeing and looking at the snow, which sometimes went to the roofs of the houses.
A short drive takes you to their activity center, with a large indoor pool and two hot tubs. Downstairs is a pool table, locker room, gym, and sauna. Also an entertainment room with very large screen TV and table, chairs, and couch for lounging. We very much enjoyed driving into West Yellowstone and seeing the sights in the winter versus summer.
