Houston

A travel journal to Houston by janneke

Quote: Houston is a city people often think of last. People outside Texas only think of Dallas when thinking of Texas. Our European friends think of it as a cowboy and horses place. Houston is filled with culture, shopping and great dining.

I have had many guests stay at the St. Regis. It is a beautiful hotel near the Galleria. The Omni is also a great choice. The Houstonian would also be on my list of places to stay.

This is our favorite restaurant in Houston. It is owned by a Belgian family and is Belgian food. Everything is soooo good. The mussels and french fries, salmon, Waterzooi, Beers, wines, soup and especially dessert. The Dame Blance and apple crepes. Very good prices. Very bistro-like service. Worth every calorie!

I never thought dining with a child could be so fun! Rainforest Cafe has both great atmosphere and great food. It is not cheap, but well worth every minute. Landry's has recently taken ownership, but I see no changes. A good deal is to sign up for their club. You get coupons and lots of other great rewards. We have had a great wedge salad, awesome portabella sandwich, pasta and good kids meals. It is also adult friendly. There are romantic spots under the waterfall or in lush garden corners.

Does your heart go to pieces when a child laughs or smiles? This is the place for you! I do not know who likes it more, my daughter or husband? Museum is pretty large. Fun for all ages. There is a Sesame Street exhibit until Nov. 2001. Talk about a childs dream come to life! There are many art activities, science and a live show everyday. The small cafe serves healthy choices for a quick meal. Beware of crowded hours unless you can take mass chaos! A must do for families.
