Reno surprises BIG fun!

A July 2005 trip to Reno by MKRose

Quote: Reno is the biggest little city because it is a little city that offers BIG fun. This is a great short getway at very reasonable prices. Gambling, dancing, eating... there is a lot to do in Reno.

Reno surprises BIG fun!

Overview

Quote:
Try to find a happy hour, and then eat a late dinner--afterward, you can catch some of the very fun bars. The piano bar in SivlerLegacy is the best for people watching, singing along and laugh-out loud entertainment.Quick Tips: Enter the clubs/bars before 10pm and get a stamp so you don't have to pay the cover charge or wait in line if you return. This will save you about per person on a Saturday night if you go to two clubs. Ask about happy hours and pick up a local paper or Entertainment Weekly to check out all that is currently happening. The Roxy happy Hour was awesome for martini's!Best Way To Get Around: Walk and wander around. Most of the casinos are like mazes to keep you in...Read More

Eldorado Hotel Casino

Hotel | "Eldorado"

Quote:
The Eldorado is one of the many large casino/hotels in Reno. It usually offers good last-minute room rates, but we did not receive a good rate because we were a large group and booked this in advance. I would recommend anyone going to Reno to wait and book a room online just a few days in advance (unless going for Hot August Nights, the first weekend in August, or another special event). The Eldorado seems to offer good rates on their site and shows accurate pictures of the rooms. The rooms were good-sized, and we had adjoining Deluxe Tower rooms with two double beds in each. They are nicely decorated and have moderately sized bathrooms. The view was okay, but I'm not sure there is a "good" v...Read More

Located in the Eldorado, this is a great restaurant that turns into a club with live music at night. The food is excellent, especially the wood-oven pizzas and appetizers. They also offer salads, burgers, shrimp, and many choices. This is a microbrewery, so you can also sample all the beers they make. Monday to Friday, happy hour is from 3 to 5pm. The atmosphere is excellent, with large brewer tanks and pipes set against a brick warehouse, but it’s loud. A live band plays on the stage after dinner, and the large bar is a great place to enjoy the evening. A dance floor is in the center of the room once they stop seating for dinner, which is a fun place to dance to all the rock'n roll and bl...Read More

BuBinga Lounge

Attraction

Quote:
BuBinga is very popular for the 21- to 35-year-old crowd. Usually a line forms outside the velvet curtains of people waiting to get in and pay! If you enter before 10pm (when the club is just getting started and empty), you can get a stamp without the line or the cover charge. I HIGHLY recommended you do this if you think you might visit BuBinga later in the evening. Inside the disco, dancing lights flash as remixed (techno like) music pulses throughout the club. Two bars line the room with hit-or-miss bartender service. Three steps above the dance floor, there is a lounge area with velvet chairs and circular cocktail tables. Obviously it is loud, so you are not really able to converse wit...Read More

102 Martinis! Need I say more? Just the martini menu at this place is amazing! Choices are listed alphabetically, with ingredients listed, to make this a very difficult decision on what to order- the menu itself is impressive. My suggestion would be to order one of the five specialties/most popular, and then study the menu to decide which drink is next. I'm not sure on the exact happy-hour times, but on the Saturday we were there, martinis were $1 off until 5pm. I was with a large group, and we tried over 24 different ones, the Mochatini was a favorite! The wait staff here is fabulous. Our waitress answered a lot of questions and even brought another drink for free when someone ordered a martini ...Read More
