A Walk Through Hong Kong...

An April 2005 trip to Hong Kong by sabre user6

This is only a brief look into one day in Hong Kong. I will follow up with more entries and photos soon.

- I can’t believe how beautiful Hong Kong Park is. Walking through this park on a sunny afternoon has definitely been one of my favorite parts about the trip here. A wedding over here, kids playing baseball over there--it’s really quite idyllic. I can’t believe I didn’t read about this park in any of the guidebooks I bought before coming over here.

- Definitely don’t miss the art museum. The paintings and sculptures from the 17th century were especially amazing, as were the more contemporary pieces on the top floor. What some people don’t know is that it’s actually a donation-only museum. You don’t have to pay to get in if you don’t want to, but I suggest putting at least a few dollars in because after all, they have to keep up the museum and pay the staff.

- There’s a little out-of-the-way diner on Main Street called Beulah’s… they have the best roasted yams and tofu casserole I’ve ever had in my life! This is one place that shouldn’t be missed by any visitors looking to sample the local cuisine.

- Most tourists probably won’t know about it, but there is a bar in the downtown district that is so cool and has such a diverse clientele. I think it’s called Boho or something like that, but I will never forget when the bartender got up on the bar, called for everyone’s attention, and did the Michael Jackson moonwalk across the whole thing! It was so funny, and everyone was hooting and hollering. No visit here is complete with a drink or burger at Boho.
