My Myrtle Beach Week

A July 2005 trip to Myrtle Beach by djenkins

Stayed at the Myrtle Beach Resort - liked the resort, hated the cleaning/maintenance services! Liked the beach - very crowded! Plus, there were baby SHARKS being caught by fishermen right off the beach in an area where families were swimming!

Go to Ripley's Aquarium - great adventure! Get fireworks and shoot them off on the beach. Shop during the day, play on the beach at evening/late night. That way, you miss the terrible HOT day, and the beach is less crowed at late evening.

Quick Tips:

Grab all the coupons and USE them - they will save you a ton of money if you just look at what is there. Go to Medieval Times Dinner Show - it is more fun than the Dixie Stampede! You can see cowboys every day, but KNIGHTS - hey!

Best Way To Get Around:

Use your own car. The roads are marked, traffic is not that bad, you can get around town very easy.
Best Things Nearby:
grocery store, seafood restaurants, fireworks

Best Things About the Resort:
lots of swimming pools, playground, 24 hr security enforced, family-place

Resort Experience:
The resort was Great, easy to find, good location, but the cleaning services/maint services were awful! Dirty towels in floor, food stuck on kitchen floors, dirty sheet still on beds, tub bottom-black! 5 people in the room/ we got 4 towels & 3 washcloths. The laundry room has NO fans/was about 110 degrees/had NO change machines in it. the pool snack bar closes to early, you have to walk across resort to get a drink or food.

Really enjoyed this dinner show. Service was great! Make your reservations early so you will get a good seat. Buy the pictures - you will get a huge laugh out of them!

They have MERMAIDS there, swimming around in the tanks - the kids LOVED it. The buffet was GREAT - and for the price, you will not find any cheaper place with the largest selection of food. Loved it!
