If you prefer to ignore the crowds of Cancun or the similarity of Puerto Vallarta, head southwest to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Even though it has become more of a resort town, it still has its traditional charm.

Best Things Nearby:
Costco is down the street.

Best Things About the Resort:
The convenience of golf carts to take you to the timeshare condos, food was pretty good, and off the ocean.

Resort Experience:
The Grand Los Cabos is one of the largest resorts in Los Cabos. Most popular with families, this resort had a variety of rooms, from studios to select number of bedrooms/kitchens.

My family and I decided to rent a one-bedroom suite with a kitchen. The unit was large with a kitchen, living area, bedroom, 2 toilets, washer and dryer, etc. We were so close to the ocean that it was difficult to fall asleep, with the waves crashing nearby. The worse thing about this unit was the comfort level. There was none! The bed was like sleeping on cement and the pillows were as flat as pancakes. The pull out couch was like sleeping on springs that poke into your body. Also, we had absolutely no hot water while we were there. We asked the front desk to see if there was something wrong with the plumbing, but they never responded. Also, we had ants crawling all over the place.

The accessibility of grocery shopping = none! We had to pay $20 per person for a shuttle ride into town. The grocery store had a poor selection of unfresh veggies and meat. We had to settle for familiar food that looked decent. We wanted to eat out but also stay in to save money.

The food at the resort was pretty good, but expensive. There is a buffet, but it's not worth it. It would be more practical to order off the menu. The carne asada is most excellent there. Also, the fried calamari at the pool bar is good.

The beach is not for swimmers because of its rugged environment. Head to Medano Beach in the city to enjoy the beach, for free. Since it was very hot in August, the pools were very warm and uncomfortable.

This place is more ideal for families. If you are looking for luxury, try to reserve at these wonderful resorts: One & Only Palmilla, Las Ventanas al Paraiso, Esperanza, and Westin (there are more developments on the way).
