Story/Tip

Roosendaal is a small town situated in the south of Holland near the Belgian border. It is a town with a great history. Water is the most important thing, as it is situated next to Zeeland. The people of Roosendaal are known as businessmen, because the town is on the route to Atwerpen, one of the important European harbors. Roosendaal means ‘the valley of the roses,’ and it’s as named after the family that created the town. In the city centre, you can still find monuments from this period, but a lot of things are gone after the bombing during the war. There are some nice shopping facilities, and biking is the most popular activity. Around the town you will find a beautiful landscape, with tulip fields. There are several restaurants of all kinds of cuisines, like Chinese, Greek, and Argentine. Roosendaal is also well situated, 30 minutes from Rotterdam and 90 minutes from Amsterdam and Brussels. And don't forget to visit Zeeland, as it shows how the Dutch people fought against the water.
