For family fun and a little adventure with lots of rewards, the U-Pick blueberry farm on Columbia Road is a fabulous way to spend a couple of hours. It is hot in blueberry season, and as you can imagine, it is a little work, with the name being "U-Pick", but it is worth it. Quick Tips: Bring mosquito spray or lotion. Blueberry season is also mosquito season. If you put something on, it is not a problem at all. Get there early. They open at 7am, and the best berries will be gone by 8am. Rise and shine. The best blueberries will be gone by 8 or 8:30am. The blueberry farm is set right near I-20 but off-the-beaten-path enough to be "in the country". Fresh country air invites you in to the chattering blueberry gardens in Augusta. This is family fun. You cannot beat the price: 1$/lb. You do the work, but it makes the berries that much more enjoyable.
