Saturday Night in Phnom Penh

A July 2005 trip to Phnom Penh by dv8inpp

Quote: Another busy night in Phnom Penh--the nightlife here is small but entertaining. Although Phnom Penh is a city of 1 million-plus people, the number of expats living here limit the amount of nightlife available. A typical Saturday--well, any day, really, the nightlife is really much the same.

This is a small guesthouse with nice clean rooms. It is priced from $5 for a fan, private bathroom, and TV to $15 for A/C, a private bathroom, hot water, and a TV.

They have a pool table and nice bar with good rock music and some good hip-hop/rap mixed in.

It is located near the riverfront, making it ideal for visiting the national museum and royal palace.

There is a nice relaxing garden atmosphere with a cheap restaurant and beer. Shaded platforms around the edge of a man-made fishing pond make for a nice way to kill a day. The cost is around $3 an hour, depending on if you want to keep the fish or not. It's a little bit hard to find.

Small bar on the ground floor and pool table on second floor. Aimed mainly at single men, but they treat single women just the same (well, nearly). Nice ambience and good rock music. The owner has a good collection of other music as well and is always keen to exchange some if you have an MP3 player with you.
