Helen, GA, is a quaint little Bavarian village tucked secretly away in the mountains of northern Georgia. It lies on the Chattahoochee River, providing access to many water sports such as canoeing, kayaking, rafting, and most popular of all, tubing. Several businesses provide rentals. The one we used was called Cool River Tubing, but there are many to choose from in the area. Area merchants sell everything from cuckoo clocks to antiques. There is something going on here all year long. The hotel was recently renovated, but we stayed several years ago, so I cannot describe the changes. I do recall the large room accommodations, complete with a microwave and fridge. The website still claims these features, so I can only presume everything is only enhanced. The hotel is within walking distance to the restaurants, shopping, river, etc.

Near Helen is a one-of-a-kind place for doll lovers of all ages. Here wait hundreds of Cabbage Patch dolls for adoption. Admission is free, but it would be rare not to leave without purchasing one or more of the adorable little cuties. I feel as though it is a museum for Cabbage Patch Kids.

Little rooms are set up displaying the dolls in various settings. Every 30 minutes or so, a newborn arrives in the cabbage patch amid celebration. Doctors proudly hold up the doll for all to see. This is a great experience for little kids and their mothers to enjoy together. It is located in Cleveland, GA.
