Great Lodging in My Favorite City

An April 2005 trip to San Francisco by rick_num9

Quote: Hip, cool, perfect location, and a great staff all for less than $80/night.
I've traveled very extensively for the last couple of years, and I've never seen anything like this hotel. Most of the rooms have been painted from the floor to the ceiling by some very cool artists. Staying here immerses you in their art. I recommend that you check out there website and call them on the phone to book so you can pick exactly which room you stay in.

The location was also great: The hotel is located just off Union Square, right outside the Chinatown Gate and steps from the Financial District and cable cars. The front desk was helpful in suggesting dining and nightlife. Amenities included wireless Internet and a free continental breakfast.

Hotel des Arts
447 Bush Street
San Francisco, California
1(800) 956-4322

This is right off a little alley in what is becoming the French Quarter of San Francisco. Cafe Claude is at the start of the alley, and the Hotel des Arts (definitely read my review of this great place to stay) is just up the street.

Blupointe has a very cool bar, with a DJ, New York-style decor, and some very handy bartenders. The menu focuses on seafood, with an extensive raw menu and some unique flavors. The quality was excellent. This was the perfect place to quench our thirst and hunger.
