An October 2004 trip
to June Lake by judee0624
Quote: This small (pop.618)town offers a break from city living but has everything you need. The 7500 foot elevation will literally take your breath away the first day or two.So will the scenery in this mountain canyon.Hiking, skiing, and fishing attract visitors.

The first floor street side has a deck with great views. June Lake Marina is withing walking distance. There are many hiking trails, and June Mountain ski area is a short drive. There is no food service here, except a meager continental breakfast on Sunday.
There are three restaurants across the street. I recommend Trout Town Joe's for breakfast or lunch and the Tiger Bar and Cafe for dinner. There is more upscale dining about 2 miles down 158 on the Loop road. There are menus to peruse in each unit at the Heidelberg.
A recreation room is downstairs and has a pool table and games to use in your unit. The historic four-sided fireplace in the lobby is of interest, as are the many photographs of the Hollywood crowd that frequented this inn in the '30s and '40s. Overall, this is a nice place to enjoy the mountain atmosphere.
