A June 2005 trip to Hilton Head by Raesma

Quote: Apparently June in Hilton Head is the rainy season. It rained for 4 of the 7 days we were there. It was wonderful when the sun was out. Definitely rent a bike. The temperature was never too hot. Hilton Head has a small-town feel about it.

Best Things Nearby:The beach and the bike pathsBest Things About the Resort:It was tastefully decorated and there were discount bike rentals.Resort Experience:The third bedroom is really a sitting room off the master bedroom. It’s fine for a bedroom, as it has a closet and you can close the door to the main bedroom. It was roomy enough for our family of six. In addition to the door to the apartment, there is an outside door downstairs. Unfortunately, our neighbors were not security-conscious (or bug-conscious) and constantly left the outer doors to the building wide-open. The swimming pool was small and the hot tub wasn't hot. This was the only buffet I could find. It was advertised a kid's show with dinner. The buffet was so-so, and the show would have been funny if it hadn't been so sad. We went on mermaid night. A lady dressed as a mermaid, sang (not very well), and let all the kids come up and dance. The place was virtually empty, except for a group that turned out to be related to the mermaid. My 5- and 7-year-old girls loved it because they got to dance and wear boas. The food was not of great quality, but it wasn't horrible. I would not have paid $25 for it, though, had I known. I don't expect this show to last. In late June, the place was deserted, even though it was part of a hotel. I guess the guests ha...Read More

While it didn't seem that big when I first entered, it was worth it. In addition to activities already mentioned, there are two rooms of video games, a virtual roller coaster, and a 4-D theater. We spent an entire rainy day there and never ran out of things to do. Twenty dollars pays for unlimited rides, but no arcade games. Some arcade games give out tickets that can be exchanged for cheap prizes, just like at Chuck E. Cheese's, so my kids loved it! The all-inclusive price lets you play until midnight. We left for dinner and came back. After 8pm on a weeknight, we played continuous laser tag because there were no lines. It was the perfect place for a rainy day.
