A family trip to Myrtle Beach was filled with good seafood, alligators, and ghosts.

View from our balcony at the Breakers Hotel
We stayed in a two-bedroom suite in the Paradise Tower building, and it was perfect. You walk into the suite, and on your left is a bedroom with two twin beds. The bedroom had its own TV and its own bathroom. Up the little hall further on your right was a washer and dryer. On up to the right was the full kitchen, with full-size refrigerator, four-burner stove, and dishwasher. And it was completely stocked with all the dishes you would ever need. A bar separated the kitchen from the dining room area, which had a large six-person dining table and chairs.

Then, out from that was the living room. We had a corner suite and the walls in the corner were glass so we had a surround view of the atlantic ocean. Off from the beginning of the living room to the left was the master bedroom with a queen bed and its own bathroom. The living room and the master bedroom had glass sliding doors that opened up onto the balcony, all set up with chairs and a table. Nothing obstructed our view of the beautiful Atlantic ocean. The master bedroom also had its own TV, as did the living room, of course.

At the bottom of the building was a huge pool complex that was both inside and outside. It had two Jacuzzis, a pool, and a very large lazy river that went through the inside and then outside. You could float along and look at the ocean; they had floats there to use at the pool area. The pool and the lazy river were both heated; it was like bathwater. Right out front of that was a boardwalk that took you to the beach. I would absolutely stay here again if I return to Myrtle Beach, especially with kids.

We had to move to this hotel, as we went to view a timeshare and this is where they put us up. I would not stay here if I had to pay for it. The room was extremely worn down and small. The mini-kitchenette was the smallest mini-kitchen I have ever seen. The carpet had stains, and the tub was dirty. It had a pool and a lazy river, but they were not heated and were cold as ice--too cold for even my kids to enter. With all the other choices you have in Myrtle Beach, I would never recommend that anyone stay here.

This is THE place to go in Myrtle Beach for the seafood buffet. It is huge. And don't worry if you have someone in your party that does not like seafood. There are tons of choices that do not involve seafood. This is just a really big, really good buffet. Go there!!!! I can't wait to go back.

This was a nice break, especially since we had been eating all the seafood we could get since we got into town. The meal was very, very good. And it was not limited to Italian. You could get other items from the grill as well.

Me first, no me first, man,you were first last time.
Alligator Adventure was great, and we all loved it. They have crocodiles, alligators, and an entire room with snakes (in glass cages). They have a lot of animals. My favorite was Utan-King of the Crocs. He is 20 feet long and weighs more than a ton. He is BIG. Find out when feeding time is and get there early to get a spot right up against the fence to get a good view. The workers go in the pen and feed him by hand, so it is quite a site. They also have regular feeding times for their alligators, when they get out on platforms over the water area and feed them. You would be surprised to see how far out of the water those alligators can jump. When you buy a ticket for one day, you can automatically return another day for free, so if you don't get to see it all or miss a feeding time or something, you can go back the next day.

The haunted grave of Alice
It was raining and chilly when we were picked up for our jeep tour, so I was really worried. The jeep had a cover on it but just a canvas cover, so you still got a little wet. Our tour guide (sorry, I forgot his name) was great, though. He started right away telling us history about the area. It was great to get away from the tourist area of Myrtle Beach and see something you would not see on your own.

He took us to a small barrier island, and on the way out to it we actually saw an alligator off on the side of the road. We saw an old fort, and he explained the history right along as we went. The rain came and went, but I hardly noticed by now. We saw a plantation, and we got to see the grave of a girl simply called Alice. It is haunted by her. People come and leave her small trinkets on her grave. You can see them in the photo. I won't tell the story though. I will leave it to the very talented people of the Carolina Safari Jeep Tours to explain it. It is worth the money to go. You will see a lot of interesting things, and the tour guide we had really knew the history of the area. He did a great job.
